How To Protect Your Company From Unnecessary Lost

As a business owner, product theft and the purposeful destruction of your goods can seriously impact your bottom line. That is why it is so important for companies to make a diligent effort to protect themselves from vandalism and other costly issues. Following are several strategies that you can use to keep problems like these at bay and to both deter and neutralize threats.

One of the most common areas for theft is in receiving areas. That is because large pallets of goods are often left unattended to in these spaces for long periods of time. In fact, it could be hours or event days before these items are logged into inventory management systems. This creates the prime opportunity for people to simply walk off site with these valuable assets.

To fix this problem, companies should always limit access to receiving areas to authorised personnel only. They should also have elevated pallet racking systems that can provide temporary storing. These can be located over the door so that personnel can simply lift them up via forklift and house them until they are able to properly enter them into the system an integrate them into the main inventory storage area.

Another common place for theft and vandalism to occur is in the parking area. This is frequently the result of insufficient lighting. If you do not have floodlights in these areas, make sure to get them as soon as you possibly can. People are far less likely to engage in criminal activities in areas that are properly lit. Not only is this a great way to protect your fleet, but additionally illumination will also provide safety and security to your employees.

It may be advantageous for you to have a guard on site, particularly if you have been having a considerable number of problems with theft and vandalism in the past. This professional can identify and neutralise threats early on so that both property damage and property loss are minimised. People who cause problems on your property can then be handed over to the local authorities to face criminal prosecution.

Make sure that the actual building structure looks like it is well-protected. Your business may be a prime target for a lot of criminal activity simply because it looks easy to break into and steal from. Consider investing in a security roller shutter for your main loading doors and a boundary fence. You can even limit access to a single point of entry and then station a guard at this site.
